The Quad Lock Honda World Supercross Team concluded the 2025 World Supercross Championship as Teams World Champions, while also securing second overall in both the premier 450 and 250 World Championships, an extraordinary achievement in one of the most competitive seasons to date.
Heading into the final round in South Africa, the team remained firmly in title contention, sitting equal first in the 450 championship and third in the 250 standings. With everything on the line, the championship fight came down to the final race.
Joey Savatgy once again showed elite form, setting the tone early by claiming his third Super Pole of the season. Teammate Christian Craig followed closely, qualifying second fastest.
Across the three-race format, Savatgy delivered relentless consistency. He finished second in all three main events, engaging in multiple high-intensity battles, particularly in the final race, where the lead changed hands several times before Savatgy crossed the line in second behind eventual champion Jason Anderson.
Christian Craig endured a challenging night marked by adversity. A crash in Race 1 saw him recover to fifth, while another incident in Race 2 forced a charge from the back to eighth. In Race 3, Craig regrouped to finish third, securing fourth overall on the night and third overall in the World Championship.
Savatgy’s efforts earned him second overall on the night and second overall in the 450 World Supercross Championship.
“I gave it everything,” said Savatgy. “Some mistakes earlier in the championship hurt us, but the speed was there, three Super Poles and multiple fastest laps show that. We just need to execute better and adapt quicker. Congratulationsto Jason and his team. This one truly went down to the wire.”
Despite disappointment, Craig remained focused on the positives.
“These last two rounds didn’t go to plan, and the mistakes were costly,” Craig said. “But the speed is there, and I have a great team around me. We’ll debrief, learn from this, and come back stronger. I’ll be back to fight for this championship.”
In the 250 class, Shane McElrath delivered a statement performance in South Africa. Determined to finish the season on a high, McElrath dominated the final round, winning all three motos to take the overall victory and secure second place in the 250 World Championship.
“I’m proud that we finally showed what this team, this bike, and I are capable of,” said McElrath. “I’m choosing to focus on the positives. Congratulations to Max and his team, we’ll take what we’ve learned and apply it next year.”
Anthony Bourdon faced a difficult night, finishing 13th overall in the final round.
“I struggled with the track and couldn’t find my rhythm,” Bourdon said. “It’s disappointing, but that’s racing.”
For the fourth consecutive season, Quad Lock Honda secured the World Supercross Teams Championship, a testament to consistency, resilience, and the collective effort of riders and staff.
Team Director Yarrive Konsky reflected on the season with pride and perspective.
“Winning the Teams Championship again, along with three overall championship podiums and runner-up finishes in both the 450 and 250 championships, is a remarkable achievement,” Konsky said. “There’s no hiding the disappointment of finishing second in both individual titles, but this team showed intent, consistency, and professionalism every weekend. Congratulations to Jason Anderson and Max, outstanding and deserved champions. We’ll reflect on the season, on the past 25 years of competition, and determine what’s next.”
